Yujun Zuo

Zuo Yujun, male, hailing from Xiangxiang, Hunan Province, was born in 1965. He holds a postdoctoral degree, is a Second-Level Professor, and serves as a doctoral supervisor. Currently, he is the Dean of the School of Mining and Resources at Guizhou University, an academic leader in his field, a Core Expert of Guizhou Province, a High-Level Innovative Talent (Top 100 Tier) in Guizhou Province, and the leader of the Innovative Talent Team for Early Warning and Control Technologies of Mine Dynamic Disasters in Guizhou Province. He has also been recognized as the First Excellent Science and Technology Individual in Guizhou Province and the First Good Mentor in My Heart award recipient at Guizhou University.

Zuo received his Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from Northeastern University in 1987 and his Master's degree from the same university in 1989. From 1990 to 2002, he worked as a Senior Engineer at the Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. In 2005, he obtained his Doctorate in Engineering from Central South University. From 2005 to August 2010, he conducted postdoctoral research at Northeastern University. Since August 2010, he has been engaged in teaching and research in Mining Engineering at the School of Mining and Resources, Guizhou University.

Professor Zuo concurrently serves as a member of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM), a member of the Committee on Fragmentation of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), a member of the Committee on Dynamics of CSRME, an Executive Council Member of the Underground Engineering Branch of CSRME, the First Executive Council Member of the Mining Rock Mechanics Branch of CSRME, the Vice President of the Guizhou Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and an editorial board member of Journal of Mining Science and Technology and Journal of Tunnel and Underground Engineering Disaster Prevention.

He has presided over 5 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 project under the National Science and Technology Support Program during the 12th Five-Year Plan, 1 China Postdoctoral Science Foundation project, and 1 Guizhou Provincial Science and Technology Support Program. He has also completed over ten provincial and ministerial projects such as industrial and social research projects in Guizhou Province. He has participated in 2 national major projects under the 973 Program. Professor Zuo has led and participated in dozens of horizontal research and engineering projects, winning 1 Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and over 20 provincial, ministerial, and industry association research awards from the Ministry of Education, Guizhou Province, Hunan Province, Shandong Province, etc. He holds 19 authorized national invention patents and 25 utility model patents. He has published over 200 academic papers as the first author or corresponding author in prestigious domestic and international journals such as Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, and Rock and Soil Mechanics.

In teaching, Professor Zuo lectures on courses including Mining Engineering, Advanced Rock Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Blasting Engineering and Technology, Controlled Blasting, Digital Modeling and Software Applications in Mines, among others. He has supervised nearly 70 graduate students and won the Second Prize of Guizhou Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award.
